Cooper offers load cells and a variety of other products for structural testing of aircraft or testing of individual components of aircraft. We offer single and dual bridge configurations for different data acquisition/control requirements, as well as aircraft cable tension meters and torque load cells. Our Pancake series of precision and ultra precision load cells are used for static testing and we do offer many of these for fatigue testing, up to 100,000,000 fully reversed cycles. Aerospace companies such as Boeing, Lockheed, Northrop, Bombardier, NASA, Alliant Tech Systems and Cessna have depended on Cooper for a variety of their testing needs. While structural test applications utilize many types of Load Cells, Cooper also offers a wide variety of Load Washers, Load Buttons and Miniature Tension & Compression Load Cells for test, production and control monitoring applications.
The following are just a few examples of Cooper Instruments aerospace applications.
- Static structural testing
- Fatigue testing
- Sample/material tests
- Jet engine thrust stands
- Rocket engine thrust stands
- Load cell and system calibration equipment
- Production positioning equipment monitoring
- Yoke control monitoring
- Aircraft Cable Tension Testing

Rotating Torque Transducer
Inline Rotary Torque Sensors / Transducers are normally used in line with rotating shafts or nut runners for feed back control. For optimum performance, it is recommended to utilize coupling in order to minimize extraneous load & moments due to misalignment. When selecting the torque sensor, make sure to specify required RPM for proper sensor and related instrument selection. Cooper Instrument’s line of rotary torque sensors are strain gage type and are available with both Slip ring type (300 series) with mV/V output or non-contact ones (600 series) with +/- 5VDC output. Both versions are also available with an encoder with "TTL" output for Speed or angle measurement. They are available in standard capacities starting from 0.5 NM to 1000 NM.
